Banks will remain open this Sunday ahead of a three-day nationwide strike scheduled to begin on September 28, the government said.
The decision comes after the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) decided to go ahead with the strike following an inconclusive conciliation meeting with the Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner on Tuesday.
The meeting was held a day after the Finance Ministry appealed to bank employees to call off the proposed strike and resolve their remaining demands through dialogue.
The three-day strike is expected to affect banking services across the country from September 28.
