Road cave-ins continue to cause problems in Ahmedabad even after the rains have stopped. Two cars got stuck in a fresh road cave-in on Manekbagh Road on Wednesday morning.
Local residents and other motorists helped pull both vehicles out of the affected portion of the road. However, no barricades had initially been placed around the damaged stretch by the municipal corporation. Locals later put up temporary barricades to alert other motorists and prevent accidents.

The road cave-in created a risk for motorists travelling through the area. After the two cars got stuck, residents and other commuters reached the spot and helped remove the vehicles.
With no immediate protective barricades in place, locals took the initiative to cordon off the area temporarily.
Earlier cave-in also reported on same road
This is not the first road cave-in reported on Manekbagh Road. A similar incident had occurred earlier near Manekbagh intersection, following which the municipal corporation had barricaded the affected area.
In the earlier incident, a drain cover was also found to have collapsed around 10 feet away from the road cave-in. Repeated incidents of road subsidence in the same area have raised questions about the condition of the road and the underground drainage network.
