Weeks after a leopard was spotted near Serendeep Mansions in Ghuma, the big cat has resurfaced in Sanand taluka, raising concern among local residents.
The leopard was first seen around 2 am on July 20 near Serendeep Mansions, creating panic in the area. Soon after, social media reports claimed sightings in Zundal, Bopal and near the railway tracks at Godhavi. However, the forest department dismissed these reports as rumours and false alarms.
On Sunday night, forest officials received information about a possible leopard sighting near Moti Divni village in Sanand. A team reached the spot and examined pug marks found in the area. Deputy Conservator of Forests Minal Jani confirmed that the marks belonged to a leopard, but officials have not yet determined whether it is the same animal spotted in Ghuma.
The forest department has placed a cage at the site to capture the leopard and deployed a team to monitor its movement. Officials are also checking nearby areas where pug marks have been found.
Residents have been advised to remain cautious after sunset and avoid spreading unverified information about leopard sightings.
