Surat police have busted an alleged prostitution racket that was reportedly being run under the guise of a massage parlour from a flat in the Pasodara area. Three people, including a brother-sister duo, have been arrested, while several others were detained during the raid.
Acting on a tip-off, a team from Laskana Police Station raided a flat in Om Township and found the alleged illegal operation in progress. Police arrested Jagruti alias Krishna Satish Rajpara (39), the owner of the flat, her brother Kalu Bhikha Chavda (34), and Pooja alias Poonam Hirani, who allegedly managed the day-to-day activities.
During the raid, police found two women allegedly involved in prostitution, including an 18-year-old, along with two college students who had allegedly visited the flat as customers. According to police, one student was found inside a room with a woman, while the other was waiting in the flat.
Investigators said the accused allegedly charged ₹1,000 per customer. Jagruti is accused of providing the flat for the operation, while Kalu allegedly brought customers to the location and kept watch outside. Police seized ₹1,000 in cash and mobile phones worth around ₹21,000 during the raid.
A case has been registered under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, and further investigation is in progress.
Police Inspector M.B. Zala said the probe also revealed that Kalu Chavda and another brother of Jagruti, Vishal Chavda, are local workers of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). However, police have not alleged any involvement of the political party in the case, and the investigation remains focused on the alleged prostitution racket.
