An Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS) bus crashed into the central divider near the Prohibition and Excise Department office at the Ellis Bridge end on Saturday, disrupting traffic for some time. No passengers, pedestrians or occupants of other vehicles were injured in the incident.
According to preliminary information, the bus was travelling towards Ellis Bridge when the driver allegedly lost control of the steering, causing the vehicle to mount the central divider. The impact left the bus stranded on the divider, leading to traffic congestion in the area.
Police said the driver left the bus after the accident and was not found at the scene when officials arrived. A police team and Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation personnel rushed to the spot and used a crane to remove the bus from the divider. Traffic was restored after the damaged vehicle was cleared.
Officials said the exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined. Investigators are examining whether the crash was caused by a mechanical failure, driver negligence or any other factor. CCTV footage from the area is also being analysed as part of the investigation.
