The Bhavnagar division of the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) has intensified its cleanliness drive, imposing fines on passengers found littering or spitting in buses and bus station premises.As part of the campaign, officials registered 240 cases across the division’s eight depots and collected a total fine of ₹3,530. The drive aims to promote cleanliness and encourage passengers to maintain hygiene in public transport facilities.
Passengers were penalised for offences such as spitting, throwing garbage and creating unhygienic conditions in buses and bus stations.Depot-wise fines collected were ₹490 in Bhavnagar, ₹600 each in Talaja and Mahuva, ₹320 in Palitana, ₹300 each in Gariyadhar and Barwala, ₹480 in Botad, and ₹440 in Gadhada.
GSRTC officials said the cleanliness campaign will continue, with regular inspections and strict action against those violating sanitation rules.
