The Gujarat government has issued revised eligibility norms for the Gyan Sahayak Scheme, introducing new age limits, updated recruitment criteria and revised honorarium details for candidates applying to secondary and higher secondary schools.
Under the new rules, candidates who have cleared the two-tier Teacher Aptitude Test (TAT) will receive first preference for appointment. If such candidates are unavailable, applicants who have passed the TAT in any other year will be considered. In the absence of TAT-qualified candidates, graduates with a B.Ed. degree will be eligible for secondary schools, while postgraduates with a B.Ed. degree will be considered for higher secondary schools.
For TAT-qualified candidates, merit will be based on TAT scores. For other eligible applicants, selection will be based on the average percentage obtained in the final year of their academic and professional qualifications. The revised guidelines also fix the maximum age limit at 48 years for secondary school applicants and 50 years for higher secondary school applicants, calculated as on the date of application.
Selected Gyan Sahayaks will receive a fixed monthly honorarium of ₹24,000 for secondary schools and ₹26,000 for higher secondary schools through Direct Bank Transfer (DBT).Appointments will be made on a purely temporary basis for a maximum period of 11 months and will automatically end at the close of the academic year.
The government has also stated that it will consider increasing the honorarium after Gyan Sahayaks complete two years of service.
