The Gujarat government has announced enhanced financial assistance for students preparing for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination at the Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration (SPIPA) in Ahmedabad and its regional training centres. The revised assistance has been approved by the General Administration Department.
Under the new scheme, all SPIPA students preparing for the UPSC Preliminary Examination will receive a monthly stipend of ₹4,000 for up to seven months or until the preliminary exam is held.
Candidates who clear the Preliminary Examination will receive incentive assistance of ₹35,000 for men and ₹50,000 for women. The stipend already paid will be adjusted against this amount. Those who qualify for the Main Examination will receive an additional ₹45,000 (men) and ₹55,000 (women).
Candidates who are finally selected for the Civil Services will receive ₹75,000 if they are men and ₹1 lakh if they are women. Overall, successful male candidates can receive financial assistance of up to ₹1.55 lakh, while successful female candidates can receive up to ₹2.05 lakh.
The government has also announced incentives for non-domicile candidates studying or working in Gujarat who attend SPIPA’s personality test coaching. If they are selected for the Civil Services, they will receive ₹25,000 (men) or ₹35,000 (women).
The revised assistance has been approved after clearance from the Finance Department. The state government said the decision is aimed at providing greater financial support to UPSC aspirants and encouraging more candidates from Gujarat to join the Civil Services.
