The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is planning to install a statue of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookerjee, founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, at the Sabarmati Riverfront.
The announcement was made by AMC Standing Committee Chairman Kamlesh Patel after the committee’s weekly meeting on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters, Patel said the decision has been taken ahead of Dr. Mookerjee’s birth anniversary on July 6. He said the leader made significant contributions to the nation, and the proposed statue aims to inspire citizens by highlighting his legacy.
“The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has decided to install a grand statue of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookerjee at the Sabarmati Riverfront to honour his contribution to the country and inspire future generations,” Patel said.
He added that the Municipal Commissioner has been instructed to initiate the necessary procedures to implement the project.
