Wedding Avenue recently hosted ‘Celebrating Her’ at The Belvedere Golf & Country Club, Adani Shantigram, bringing together women entrepreneurs, artisans, creators, and families for an evening centred around culture, craftsmanship, and individuality.
Positioned as ‘An Event for Real Women, By Real Women’, the initiative moved beyond the format of a conventional exhibition to create a platform celebrating handcrafted artistry, personal journeys, and women-led communities.
Backed by the legacy and textile expertise of Mr. Rashmikant Shah, Founder of Wedding Avenue, the platform draws from over four decades of experience in the fabric and saree industry. Under his leadership, Wedding Avenue and its designer label ALIEN’S ZUBAA have built a growing presence through curated saree collections, artisan collaborations, and a strong focus on Indian craftsmanship and cultural heritage.
Conceptualised by Dr. Kiran Jha, CEO of Wedding Avenue and a Relationship and Communication Clarity Coach, the event featured participation from entrepreneurs, homemakers, professionals, artists, and creators from across Ahmedabad, reflecting themes of confidence, identity, and self-expression.
A key highlight of the event was its curated presentation of handcrafted sarees featuring Indian textile traditions including silk, chanderi, mashru silk, cotton-linen, banarasi tissue, and tussar, alongside artisanal techniques such as Kantha stitch, Kalamkari, Pichwai art, zari work, appliqué, and eco-printing. The collections drew strong interest from attendees for both their craftsmanship and the stories behind them.
The evening’s signature segment, ‘A Ramp for Real Women’, resonated strongly with guests as women from everyday walks of life took to the runway instead of professional models. The segment celebrated individuality and confidence while encouraging participants to embrace their identities authentically.
The event also spotlighted women-led businesses and conversations around collaboration, visibility, and community support for women entrepreneurs and creators.
Speaking about the initiative, Dr. Kiran Jha said, “Celebrating Her was created as a space where women could simply show up as themselves — through their stories, creativity, work, and individuality. The most meaningful part of the evening was witnessing women encourage and celebrate one another so wholeheartedly.”
