To address the shortage of teachers in government and grant-in-aid primary schools, the Gujarat Education Department has initiated a major recruitment drive under the Samagra Shiksha scheme.
The state government plans to recruit around 16,000 Gyan Sahayaks on an 11-month contractual basis. The online application process began on Thursday and will remain open until June 17, offering a significant employment opportunity for eligible candidates across Gujarat.
According to the official notification, appointments will be made in government primary schools, grant-in-aid primary schools, model schools, and aided ashram schools operating under the Tribal Development Department and the Social Justice and Empowerment Department.
Applicants must be below 48 years of age as on the last date of submission of applications. Selection will be carried out strictly on the basis of merit and eligibility criteria prescribed by the education department.
Candidates selected as Gyan Sahayaks will be posted at the school level and will receive a fixed monthly remuneration of ₹21,000 during the 11-month contract period.
The department has also announced the recruitment schedule. The provisional merit list will be published on June 18, followed by document verification and school allotment at district primary education offices on June 20.
Applications will be accepted only through the online mode. Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit original documents, self-attested photocopies and passport-size photographs during the verification process.
