Authorities on Monday launched the second phase of an encroachment removal drive in Ambaji to clear land required for the proposed Shaktipeeth Corridor project around the temple town.
The operation targets illegal structures built on revenue and gram panchayat land across four identified zones. Officials said more than 30 major encroachments, along with several smaller structures, are being removed as part of the exercise.
A large-scale administrative and security arrangement has been put in place for the drive. More than 500 personnel, including senior district officials and police officers, have been deployed to oversee the operation and maintain law and order.
Heavy machinery such as JCB excavators and tractors is being used to demolish and clear the structures. The action is being carried out simultaneously at four locations earmarked for development under the corridor project.
The latest phase follows an earlier anti-encroachment drive in the Rabari Vas area, where 85 encroachments were removed to facilitate the project.
Officials said the Shaktipeeth Corridor project is moving ahead rapidly and that the ongoing land-clearance exercise is an important step towards completing the planned infrastructure and development works in and around Ambaji.
