The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Tuesday announced its new leadership team, with Hitesh Barot elected as the new Mayor of Ahmedabad.
Anju Shah has been appointed Deputy Mayor, while Kamlesh Patel will serve as the Chairman of the Standing Committee.
The appointments come after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) registered a sweeping win in the AMC local body elections, securing 160 seats in the civic body.
Sources within the party said Dharmashi Desai, Jashubhai Thakor and Raju Thakor were also being considered for the Mayor’s post before the final decision was made.
