Bhavya Verma Appointed New Ahmedabad Collector

The Gujarat government on Wednesday transferred 72 mid-level and junior IAS officers in a major administrative reshuffle ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.

The transfer orders issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) included the replacement of collectors in 17 districts and municipal commissioners in 11 civic bodies, marking one of the biggest IAS reshuffles in recent years.

Among the key appointments, Bhavya Verma, who was serving as the collector of Valsad, has been appointed the new collector of Ahmedabad district. She replaces Sujeet Kumar, who has been transferred as Special Commissioner of State Tax. The appointment also relieves P Bharathi of the additional charge of Ahmedabad collector.

Tejas Parmar has been posted as the new collector of Surat district, while Anilkumar Ranavasiya has been appointed collector of Kutch.

Officials described the reshuffle as a major administrative exercise aimed at streamlining governance ahead of the next state elections.

In another important posting, Mirant Parikh, deputy commissioner of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, has been appointed chief executive officer of the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA).

The reshuffle also saw D N Modi, Municipal Commissioner of Jamnagar, being appointed Development Commissioner in Gandhinagar.

Anand Patel, who was serving as collector of Kutch, has been transferred as Commissioner of Schools in Gandhinagar. He has also been given additional charge as Commissioner of PM-POSHAN Yojana and Director of the Gujarat Council of Education Research and Training (GCERT).

Several officers handling infrastructure and energy-related departments were also reassigned. Ajay Prakash, Director of the Gujarat Energy Development Agency (GEDA), has been appointed Managing Director of Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Ltd.

Sourabh Pardhi, collector of Surat, has been transferred as Director of Civil Supplies.

Meanwhile, Gaurang Makwana, collector of Bharuch, has been appointed Director of GEDA with additional responsibilities as Managing Director of Gujarat Power Corporation Ltd and Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Ltd.
