Gujarat University has made internships compulsory for undergraduate and postgraduate students appearing as external candidates, in line with the National Education Policy (NEP).
After confusion among students about the rules, the university issued clear guidelines. External students must complete their internship and submit the certificate by May 31. The university has warned that semester 6 results will be withheld if the certificate is not submitted on time.
Students need to submit a certificate signed by their employer or supervisor. It should include details like the company name, type of work, experience gained, references, and challenges faced during the internship.
The internship will carry 4 credits (100 marks):
- 50 marks for internship performance
- 50 marks based on half of the student’s semester 5 percentage
The final score will be out of 100 marks.
The decision has worried many external students, especially from rural areas, who say they are not getting proper guidance on how to complete the internship.
