Rajkot, April 20, 2026 — A family celebration took a devastating turn on Sunday as Ajay Bhanji Rathod, a 33-year-old resident of Navagam, collapsed at Haven Resort near Kagwad village. The tragic incident unfolded around 1 p.m. while Rathod was enjoying time with his loved ones.
Rathod had come to the resort to celebrate not only his son’s birthday but also his wedding anniversary. He and his family arrived at the resort around 11 a.m., having already celebrated his son’s birthday the day before.
Witnesses reported that Rathod suddenly lost consciousness and fell into the swimming pool. People nearby sprang into action, quickly pulling him out and starting CPR until emergency services could arrive. Despite their efforts, he was declared dead upon arrival at Virpur Hospital after being transported by ambulance.
The sudden loss has left Rathod’s family in shock. He is survived by his parents, wife, younger brother, and a nine-year-old son. Residents of Navagam are mourning the passing of one of their own.
The police have shifted Rathod’s body to Gondal Civil Hospital for further examination. A forensic postmortem will be conducted at Rajkot Civil Hospital to determine the exact cause of death as investigations continue.
