A new 66-kilometer stretch of the Delhi–Vadodara Expressway has officially opened for trial traffic as of April 13. This section connects Bhamaiya village near Godhra in the Panchmahal district to Dodka village in Savli taluka, close to Vadodara.
Developed under the Bharatmala project, this eight-lane, access-controlled expressway aims to link with the existing Vadodara–Ahmedabad Expressway. Authorities have indicated that this trial run is a precursor to a formal inauguration scheduled for a later date.
The opening is set to enhance connectivity not just between Godhra and Vadodara but also improve links to Kalol. Commuters can expect reduced travel times, particularly those heading towards Indore in Madhya Pradesh. This is significant given that traffic congestion on existing highways has been a persistent issue.
Currently, sections of the corridor are operational between Navsari and Vadodara in southern Gujarat, while work continues on other areas leading north toward Delhi. Interestingly, no toll tax is being collected yet on this highway; however, that will change once elections in Gujarat conclude.
