Gujarat Council of Science City is set to improve the visitor experience at Science City by upgrading the 3D technology used in its popular thrill ride. The body has invited agencies to handle the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of a new passive 3D system, which will replace the current active setup.
What will change?
The upgrade aims to modernise the ride’s visuals with several new components. These include a 7 ft x 5 ft silver screen designed for passive 3D projection, a high-performance DLP projector with 4,000–6,000 lumens, and a 3D polarisation system along with 200 pairs of lightweight glasses. The project will also cover full installation, staff training, and a one-year warranty.
How will it benefit visitors?
At present, the ride uses battery-powered 3D glasses, which are heavier and require regular maintenance. The new system will introduce lighter, battery-free glasses similar to those used in cinemas. This will make the experience more comfortable and easier to manage, especially for large crowds, while still offering an engaging 3D effect.
Details for bidders
GCSC is inviting bids from agencies with prior experience in similar 3D projection projects. Interested firms must also have an average annual turnover of at least ₹7.5 lakh over the past three years.
The project is expected to be completed within 16 weeks of awarding the contract, and the last date to submit bids is April 13, 2026.
