The Food Department of AMC carried out a five-day inspection drive from April 3 to 7, checking 452 food units. Out of these, 235 were given notices for breaking food safety rules. Around 318 kg/litre of unsafe food was destroyed, and fines of Rs. 1.52 lakh were collected.
Food samples sent for testing
Officials collected 188 food samples for lab testing, including paneer (69), milk products (52), non-veg items (25), sugarcane juice (3), bakery items (6), and others like oil and spices (33). Action will be taken based on the test results.
Two hotels sealed
Bhairavnath Punjabi Tadka (Vastral) was sealed for running without a licence, using fake paneer without informing customers, and poor hygiene.
Punjab Di Mehak (Navrangpura) was shut due to dirty conditions and pest infestation in the kitchen.
Paneer seized from dairies
AMC seized 140 kg of suspected paneer from Shri Krishna Dairy in Gota and 104 kg from Radhe Dairy in Naroda.Authorities warned that strict action will continue against those selling fake or unsafe food under the FSSAI Act.
