The Amdavad Art Summit, an important cultural event for the city, is set to return for its second edition this February with a thoughtful and reflective focus. Scheduled from February 12 to 15, the four-day summit will take place at Kadamb, the iconic dance centre founded by Padma Vibhushan Kumudini Lakhia, along with several partner venues across the city.
The summit will host exhibitions, performances and discussions that explore contemporary artistic and cultural practices. More than just an art showcase, the event aims to create a platform where artists, thinkers and audiences can interact, encouraging deeper engagement with art and its connection to everyday social realities.
Art moves beyond traditional spaces
This year, the summit expands into accessible locations such as Zen Café at Gufa, venues near Sundarvan and Craftroots in Bodakdev. By using familiar public and cultural spaces, the organisers hope to bring contemporary art closer to students, art lovers and craft enthusiasts, encouraging ongoing engagement with artistic practices.
Theme: ‘Minor Refusals’
The 2026 edition is built around the curatorial theme Minor Refusals, which highlights small yet meaningful acts of resistance—such as choosing slowness over speed, care over efficiency and creative practices outside dominant market trends. The theme explores how subtle everyday gestures can carry lasting impact and open possibilities for new ways of thinking.
Curated by Avni Sethi, with Khusshbu Bagga serving as Creative Director, the Amdavad Art Summit continues to grow as a platform that promotes dialogue across disciplines and generations, bringing together artists from diverse backgrounds working across performance, visual arts, sound, text and movement.
