With Ahmedabad’s municipal limits expanding to nearly 480 sq km, the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is planning to procure seven lakh brooms to support its large-scale sanitation operations.
The civic body, which deploys over 10,000 sanitation workers, uses more than seven lakh brooms annually to maintain cleanliness across the city. A proposal worth ₹3.29 crore for the procurement will be placed before the Material Management and Purchase Committee for approval in the coming days.
According to the proposal, AMC plans to purchase five lakh Goa brooms and two lakh Fauji brooms. The Fauji brooms will be procured at ₹54.80 per unit, with one lakh each to be supplied by Dhanlakshmi Ubha Jhadu Bhandar and Abhishek Sanitation Cooperative Society Ltd, costing around ₹1.90 crore.
Additionally, five lakh Goa brooms will be purchased at ₹44 per unit, with 2.5 lakh each supplied by Ambika Traders and Abhishek Sanitation Cooperative Society Ltd, amounting to about ₹2.20 crore.
Officials said the procurement aims to ensure uninterrupted sanitation work as the city’s area and population continue to grow.
