Security has been strengthened and traffic restrictions imposed around the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera as Ahmedabad prepares to host several ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 matches starting February 9. More than 700 police personnel have been deployed to ensure player security, prevent unauthorised entry onto the field, and curb incidents such as mobile phone theft inside the stadium.
Matches scheduled at the venue include South Africa vs Canada (February 9), South Africa vs Afghanistan (February 11), New Zealand vs South Africa (February 14), and India vs Netherlands (February 18).
Vehicular movement has been restricted on the stretch from Janpath T-junction to the stadium’s main gate and up to Motera Village T-junction. Alternative routes have been arranged via Tapovan Circle–ONGC–Visat–Janpath–Power House, and from Krupa Residency through Sharan Status Crossroads and Bhat Koteshwar Road towards Apollo Circle.
Traffic curbs will remain in force from 3 pm to 2 am on February 9, 14, and 18, and from 7 am to 3:30 pm on February 11. To manage traffic and parking, 744 personnel, including senior officers and home guards, have been deployed across four sectors.
