Seventh Day Adventist School in Ahmedabad has once again come under scrutiny after three students allegedly assaulted a Class 7 student monitor, tearing his shirt and threatening him. The incident comes months after a previous serious case at the school. Amraiwadi police have begun an investigation following a complaint, while the District Education Officer (DEO) has issued notices to the school principal and administrative head, seeking an explanation over alleged negligence and asking why action should not be taken against them.
Incident details
According to the police complaint, the incident began after school hours when the student monitor, Kartik (name changed), was helping students leave the premises in an orderly line. When three students refused to follow instructions, the monitor asked them either to stand in line or move aside, which led to an argument. The students allegedly threatened him before leaving.
Later, near the bicycle parking area, two of the students reportedly warned the monitor that they would “deal with him the next day” and even threatened to kill him.
The following day, at around 11 am, when the monitor stepped out of the classroom to go to the washroom, the same three students allegedly followed him, grabbed him by the collar, and questioned his actions. During the confrontation, one of them reportedly used a blade to tear off the buttons of his shirt and again issued death threats. The situation then escalated into a physical assault.
