The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has announced an interest waiver scheme on pending property tax dues, effective from January 1 to March 31, 2026. The scheme covers all outstanding dues except the 2025–26 property tax bills and is expected to help the civic body collect more than ₹500 crore.
As per the scheme, residential property owners can avail up to an 85% waiver on interest if dues are cleared in January, which will gradually reduce to 75% by March. Commercial property owners will be eligible for an interest waiver of up to 65% at the start of the scheme period.
Slum and chawl properties will get a complete, 100% waiver on interest, while properties assessed under the old tax formula will also be granted full interest relief during the scheme duration.
AMC officials said that delayed property tax usually attracts an interest rate of 18%, and the waiver scheme has been introduced to motivate defaulters to settle long-pending arrears.
