Tales of India will come alive at the Sabarmati Riverfront from today as Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurates the 14th International Flower Show, a 22-day floral extravaganza themed Bharat Ek Gatha. The exhibition will remain open to visitors until January 22.
This year’s show is designed to narrate India’s journey through specially curated exhibition zones that reflect the country’s ancient wisdom, festive spirit, artistic excellence and modern development.
Entry tickets are priced at ₹80 on weekdays and ₹100 on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Free entry is available on all days for people with disabilities, soldiers, children aged 12 and below, and students of AMC-run schools. Students from non-AMC schools can enter for ₹10 from Monday to Friday between 9 am and 1 pm. A special prime-time entry, from 8 am to 9 am and 10 pm to 11 pm, will be available at ₹500.
Visitors can expect an immersive journey across India as they move through different zones. Two towering floral lions will greet them at the entrance, while installations highlighting women’s empowerment will also be on display. A dedicated zone celebrating India’s diverse festivals will showcase colourful floral arrangements, alongside a cheerful area designed especially for children.
Among the key attractions is the Shashvat Bharat zone, which brings India’s mythological heritage to life through floral depictions of episodes such as Samudra Manthan, the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, Govardhan Leela, the descent of the Ganga and Ram Setu.
A major highlight of the exhibition is a national unity zone featuring a massive 30-metre-diameter floral mandala and the world’s largest floral portrait of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. This tribute aims to set a new Guinness World Record.
To maintain the seasonal plants displayed across the Sabarmati Riverfront, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has installed a sprinkler irrigation system covering 10,524 square metres, replacing traditional watering methods like tractors and pipes.
