From the new academic session beginning in June 2026, parents and students will be able to access not only the approved fees of private schools but also the detailed orders explaining how those fees were decided.
The education department has decided to upload all fee orders issued by district-level Fee Regulation Committees (FRCs), along with rulings of the state-level Fee Revision Committee, on an official portal. The move is aimed at bringing greater transparency to private school fee fixation across Gujarat.
The state enacted the Fee Determination Act in 2017 to regulate fees charged by private schools and had promised that documents submitted by schools and related fee orders would be made public online. However, for nearly eight years, only limited information was disclosed. Recently, approved fee details of private schools in most districts, including Ahmedabad, have been uploaded on the FRC website.
Now, through a fresh resolution, the education department has announced that detailed fee determination orders for private schools in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot will also be published on the portal. Orders passed by the state-level Fee Revision Committee on appeals against FRC decisions will be uploaded as well.
Currently, parents can only view the final approved fee amounts. Once the full orders are available, they will also be able to see the expenses claimed by schools and the reasons cited by committees while approving the fees.
Officials said the step will help parents better understand how school fees are fixed and ensure greater accountability in private school fee regulation.
