A fire broke out on Friday afternoon at Parishram Elegance, a commercial complex on Science City Road in Ahmedabad, triggering a swift rescue operation by the fire department. More than 50 people were safely evacuated, and no injuries or casualties were reported.
Fire brigade officials said the control room received several distress calls around 3.04 pm, reporting heavy smoke from the building and people trapped inside, including a few stuck in a lift. In response, 8 to 10 fire tenders along with senior officers were immediately rushed to the site.
Firefighters evacuated office-goers using ladders and a hydraulic platform. Around 25 people were directly rescued by fire personnel, while others managed to exit the building via staircases. In total, over 50 people were safely brought out.
Preliminary information suggests the fire originated in the pantry area of one of the units, though the exact cause is yet to be ascertained. Officials said a detailed probe has been launched.Visuals from the spot showed thick smoke billowing from the upper floors as firefighting teams worked to contain the blaze and carry out rescue operations.
A senior fire official said the teams acted promptly after receiving the alert and successfully rescued those trapped, including individuals stuck in a lift. Firefighting and cooling operations continued till the evening.
