An agro food park is set to come up in Rajkot, with the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) starting work on a new facility in Chhapra village. The project aims to strengthen the state’s agro and food processing value chain and attract major investments.
Rajkot is already a strong hub for food processing, supported by its agricultural base, allied industries, and major companies like Balaji Wafers in the region. Gujarat currently has 20 agro production clusters that produce items such as bananas, potatoes, finger millet, okra and more. Agro food parks are already active in Kutch and Saurashtra, including Jamnagar, Porbandar and Dwarka.
The proposed industrial estate at Chhapra will cover 35 hectares and offers strong logistical advantages. It is located just 1 km from the State Highway, 25 km from the railway station and 55 km from Rajkot’s Hirasar Airport. Its closeness to the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) will further improve transport efficiency. For exports, Kandla port is around 200 km away, making the location suitable for international trade.
