Ahmedabad is gearing up for the ninth edition of the Adani Ahmedabad Marathon, scheduled to be held this Sunday along the Sabarmati riverfront. Organisers expect more than 24,000 runners to participate, marking one of the city’s largest sporting events. The marathon is also just a year away from completing a decade.
Race Director David Cundy, World Athletics Course Measurement Administrator (Asia & Oceania), reviewed the preparations with senior officials, including Additional Commissioner of Police (Sector 1) Niraj Kumar Badgujar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Bhavna Patel, and KD Hospital Medical Director Dr. Amir Sanghavi. The race route will pass major city landmarks such as the Atal Bridge, Gandhi Ashram, and Ellis Bridge.
Pranav Adani, Director of Adani Enterprises Ltd, will flag off the marathon. He will be joined by Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief; Major General Gaurav Bagga; and actor and fitness enthusiast Mandira Bedi. KD Hospital has arranged extensive medical facilities for participants.
Police and traffic authorities said that detailed plans for crowd management and traffic diversions have been finalised to ensure the event runs smoothly.
