Air India has been ordered to pay 1 lakh with 6% interest to a Rajkot passenger after the consumer court found the airline guilty of providing poor service on a long-haul flight.
Binay Parasana, who flew from Rajkot’s Hirasar International Airport to Toronto, complained of a faulty seat, a non-functional recliner, and an inoperative entertainment system during the 14-hour journey.
After his emails and legal notice went unanswered, he approached the Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission.
Commission president P. C. Rawal ruled that Air India’s service lapse caused mental harassment and directed the airline to compensate him.
