The Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train project has successfully launched its 11th steel bridge over the Cadilla flyover in Ahmedabad district, officials said on Monday.
The 70-metre-long bridge, weighing 670 metric tons, is an important part of the high-speed rail corridor. It is 13 metres tall and 14.1 metres wide, and was fabricated in Navsari before being transported to the site on heavy-duty trailers.
The bridge was assembled next to the Cadilla flyover and railway tracks on a special steel staging set 16.5 metres above the ground. It uses around 29,300 high-strength bolts and features a C5 protective coating for durability.In total, 28 steel bridges are planned for the corridor — 17 in Gujarat and 11 in Maharashtra.
Officials said the launch of this bridge is another key milestone for India’s first high-speed rail project.
