Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah congratulated Amul and the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) for securing the top two ranks among the world’s ten leading cooperatives.
In a post on X, Shah said, “A proud moment for Bharat! Heartiest congratulations to Amul and IFFCO for occupying the first two ranks among the top ten cooperatives in the world. This achievement reflects the tireless dedication of millions of women associated with Amul and the farmers contributing to IFFCO. It also showcases how Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision is transforming India’s cooperative sector into a global model of empowerment and self-reliance.”
The Ministry of Cooperation also called it “a landmark achievement of India’s cooperative sector,” highlighting that this recognition aligns with PM Modi’s ‘Sahkar Se Samriddhi’ vision, which has revitalised cooperatives and boosted the national economy.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel congratulated Amul for being ranked the world’s No.1 cooperative, praising its contribution to empowering dairy farmers, especially women, and transforming rural lives.
According to the ICA World Cooperative Monitor 2025, Amul, managed by the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd (GCMMF), has been ranked the No.1 cooperative globally based on GDP per capita performance. IFFCO secured the second position.
Amul, India’s largest food product marketing organisation, recorded a turnover of USD 7.3 billion in 2023–24 and procures about 35 million litres of milk daily from 18,600 village societies across 33 districts.
IFFCO, established in 1967, is one of the world’s largest fertiliser cooperatives, serving over 50 million Indian farmers through 35,000 member cooperatives.
