The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has increased examination fees for Class 10 and 12 students appearing in the February 2026 board exams.
For Indian students, the fee for five subjects has been raised from 1,500 to 1,600, while the charge for each additional subject has gone up from 300 to 320. Practical exam fees have also increased from 150 to 160.
The hike is steeper for foreign students — fees for five subjects have risen from 10,000 to 11,000, with additional subjects now costing 2,200 instead of 2,000. Practical exam fees have increased from 350 to 375.
Under the revised structure, SC/ST students from Delhi government schools will now pay full fees, while only students with disabilities remain exempt.
With around 40 lakh students appearing in the last board cycle, the hike — averaging 100 per student — is expected to generate nearly ₹40 crore in additional revenue for CBSE.
