Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City), India’s only International Financial Services Centre (IFSC), has risen three spots to 43rd in the 38th edition of the Global Financial Centres Index (GFCI 38). Its overall FinTech rating also improved, moving up five places to 35th from 40th.
GIFT City Managing Director and Group CEO Sanjay Kaul said the rise reflects India’s growing influence in international finance and underscores the city’s strengths in innovation, regulatory framework, and operational efficiency.
The city remains among the top 15 financial centres in the Asia-Pacific region and is the only Indian centre in this group. GIFT City was also listed among the “15 centres likely to become more significant” globally in the GFCI 38 report.
Kaul added that with continued growth in banking, insurance, funds, FinTech, and capital markets, GIFT City is set to strengthen India’s position as a strategic global financial hub.
The GFCI 38, compiled by the Z/Yen Group, assessed 135 financial centres worldwide using over 140 factors from sources like the World Bank, OECD, and UN, ranking 120 centres based on business environment, infrastructure, human capital, financial sector development, and global reputation.
