A video allegedly showing two students kissing inside a classroom at the Maharaja Sayajirao University (MSU) in Vadodara has gone viral on social media, prompting the university to launch an internal inquiry on Monday.
According to Prof. Kalpana Gavli, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, the clip was likely recorded during a recent “backlog” examination. The short video shows a male student kissing a female classmate seated beside him, apparently unaware that someone nearby was filming them.
Following the viral circulation of the clip, members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) met Prof. Gavli and demanded strict action against the students and the exam supervisor for negligence.
Condemning the act, Prof. Gavli said, “This is totally unacceptable. We will first identify the students and verify the facts. If found guilty, we’ll take disciplinary action, including possible rustication.”
She added that carrying mobile phones inside examination halls is prohibited, and action will also be taken against the person who recorded the video and the exam supervisors present during the incident.
