Days after a senior lawyer hurled a shoe at Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai in the Supreme Court, a similar incident occurred in the Ahmedabad Sessions Court on Tuesday.
According to reports, an individual threw a shoe at Additional Principal Judge M.P. Purohit after the judge dismissed his appeal. The police immediately detained the accused and have begun an investigation into the case.
The incident has drawn comparisons to the recent episode in Delhi, where 60-year-old advocate Rakesh Kishore allegedly threw a shoe toward the CJI during a court hearing. He was later released after no formal complaint was lodged.
Police officials in Ahmedabad said further action will be taken once the motive behind the act is established.
