A 30-year-old man was caught by locals after he was allegedly found peeping into a women’s toilet at the Sabarmati Riverfront near Subhash Bridge in Ahmedabad on Thursday night.
The incident occurred around 9:15 pm when Priyanka Sharma (26) was using the public washroom operated by the AMC. She noticed movement from the next cubicle and saw someone peeping over the wall. When she shouted, the man fled and locked the door from outside.
Her husband, Yash Jain, who was nearby, chased and caught the accused, identified as Ashishkumar Bhil (30), a daily wage labourer from Asarwa.
Police later arrested Bhil and registered a case at Sabarmati Riverfront East station under sections related to outraging a woman’s modesty and wrongful confinement.
An investigation is underway to check if he was involved in similar incidents earlier.
