IIT Gandhinagar will host the Western Zonal Round of the Boeing National Aeromodelling Competition 2025-26 on November 8, 2025, as part of its annual technical summit, Amalthea. Organized in collaboration with Boeing India, the event aims to inspire school and college students to innovate and apply practical skills in aircraft design and flight.
Participants will design, build, and fly radio-controlled fixed-wing aircraft, using concepts from aerodynamics, flight mechanics, design, fabrication, and avionics.
The competition bridges classroom learning with real-world engineering challenges while encouraging teamwork and creativity.
More than 30 teams from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Goa are expected to participate.
The contest will include a Qualifier Round, testing aircraft stability and payload capacity, followed by a Main Round focused on the accuracy of payload drops. The top three teams will advance to the national finals at IIT Delhi.
The event is one of four zonal rounds across India, with others hosted by IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, and KIIT Bhubaneswar. It is part of Boeing India’s ongoing initiatives—including BUILD, the HorizonX India Innovation Challenge, and the Accelerated AME Apprenticeship Programme—to strengthen aerospace education and innovation.
As a highlight of Amalthea 2025, the competition reflects IIT Gandhinagar’s focus on experiential learning and industry collaboration.
