Navratri festivities in Ahmedabad began on Monday with major traffic snarls as vehicles clogged highways, service lanes, and approach roads near popular garba venues. Despite designated parking areas, many revellers left their cars on main roads, causing long delays for commuters and residents.
At Shela’s Savanna Party Lawn, vehicles abandoned on highways and service roads led to repeated jams, while Shantipura Bridge and nearby stretches saw painfully slow movement. Bopal faced similar gridlocks around the Raasratri X Raasmandali venue and Vakil Saheb Bridge, where haphazard roadside parking turned busy junctions into bottlenecks.
Sindhu Bhavan Road (SBR) also witnessed snail-paced traffic near Taj Skyline hotel, with even traffic police struggling to manage the heavy rush. Authorities have appealed to visitors to use official parking lots as congestion threatens to worsen through the festival.
