An Ahmedabad man’s social media post has gone viral after he claimed that while working in the US, American colleagues routinely shifted all dull, urgent, and thankless tasks to their Indian counterparts.
In his post, Kapil Bhatt wrote, “My US colleagues treated the India team like their personal dumping ground. Boring work? – India team. Urgent work? – India team. Thankless work? – India team.
Their day was basically: send work to India, sit in pointless meetings, relax, and log off.”His post garnered millions of views and reactions from netizens. One user commented, “All IT folks in my society keep telling me the same thing.
Apparently, even Indians working from onsite do the same with the team in India & just review PR.” Another user agreed, “Yes, the same thing happens in my company too. The problem is that people in India don’t complain. People should start giving back to the US teams.
If they are paid more, then they should work more.” While a user commented, “Don’t mean to disrespect, but to be honest, they pay Indians for the same.
No one is forcing anyone to work for them.” Another wrote, “What else did you think you were for?”After a decade in the United States, Kapil Bhatt has moved back to India and now resides in Ahmedabad.
He previously worked as a senior data science manager for six years at the California-based biotechnology firm Genentech.
