The Transport Department will install Artificial Intelligence-based Automated Driving Test Systems (ADTS) in 37 RTO offices across Gujarat by next year. Officials said the new system will resolve issues of server crashes, power outages, and result tampering that citizens frequently face.
Unlike the current decentralised setup, the AI-driven system will be linked to the Centralised State Data Centre in Gandhinagar, ensuring secure storage of test data.
To prevent manipulation, ADTS will capture three photographs of each candidate—at registration, document upload, and during the driving test. All test tracks will be equipped with six-hour power backup, enabling tests to continue even during server downtime or power cuts.
This means applicants will no longer have to make repeated visits to RTO offices. The system has already been introduced on a trial basis at Modasa, Lunawada, and Chhota Udepur RTOs.
In Ahmedabad, one of the three new tracks at Subhash Bridge RTO will begin operations soon, with officials promising faster and more accurate test results once the project is fully rolled out.
