Heavy monsoon showers in South Gujarat have triggered a flood-like situation in Navsari district as the Kaveri and Kharera rivers overflowed on Saturday, submerging several low-lying areas.
According to a media, continuous rainfall over the past 24 hours has swollen both rivers beyond danger levels, leading to waterlogging in residential zones and agricultural fields. Local residents reported that several homes, shops, and roads were inundated, causing major disruption to daily life.
Authorities have issued a flood alert and urged residents in vulnerable areas to stay cautious. Disaster response teams have been kept on standby, while the district administration has begun shifting affected families to safer shelters.
Earlier this monsoon, Navsari had witnessed similar flooding when the Purna river overflowed, forcing over 500 people to be evacuated. With heavy rains forecast to continue, officials fear that water levels may rise further, worsening the situation.
