A 29-year-old beautician was killed after being struck by a speeding BMW in Gandhinagar’s Sargasan area late Sunday night, police said on Monday. The driver has since been detained.
The victim, identified as Shanta Ankush Sunar, was crossing the road near Vachani Hospital around 11:30 pm when the car hit her. She sustained severe injuries and collapsed on the spot. Despite efforts by first responders to rush her to the hospital, she succumbed to her injuries on the way, officials said.
According to police, the driver, 20-year-old Amarbhai Moreshwar, fled immediately after the accident but was later tracked down and detained by Infocity police.
Sunar, who was employed at a local beauty parlour, is survived by her family. Authorities said further investigation is underway.
