Ahmedabad has seen no major rain in recent days, and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) expects the dry spell to last until August 14. A fresh monsoon phase is likely from August 17, bringing moderate to heavy showers until August 20.
According to a media report, this season, the city has received 21.45 inches of rain — 67.62% of its seasonal average — while Ahmedabad district has recorded 16.36 inches, or 62.21% of the average. As of August 8, the rainfall deficit is 6%, slightly better than last year’s 8% at the same time.
Until mid-August, weather will remain mostly cloudy and hot, with temperatures around 32–34°C and only light showers in some areas. The new spell after Independence Day is expected to improve overall rainfall figures for the season.
