The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for five districts in the Saurashtra-Kutch region—Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Dwarka, and Rajkot—predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours.
A yellow alert has also been issued for Ahmedabad and several other parts of Gujarat, forecasting light thunderstorms, lightning, and surface winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph.
According to a media report, Porbandar recorded the highest rainfall in the state in the past 24 hours with 4.4 inches, followed by notable showers in Dwarka and Keshod. The monsoon remains active across the Saurashtra-Kutch belt, with continued rain likely in the coming days.
Isolated heavy rainfall is also expected in Morbi, Gir Somnath, Kutch, and coastal Diu. The yellow alert has been extended to cover areas of North and South Gujarat, as well as the Union Territories of Daman and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
Districts including Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat, Vadodara, Bhavnagar, Rajkot, and Anand have been warned of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds.
Light Showers in Ahmedabad
Ahmedabad received 0.33 inch of rainfall in the last 24 hours. The city recorded a maximum temperature of 32.8°C and a minimum of 26.2°C. Light to moderate showers are expected to continue in the city over the next few days.
According to the IMD’s weekly forecast, most parts of Gujarat are likely to experience light to moderate rainfall through July 27, with widespread showers expected in North and South Gujarat on July 26. No major change in weather patterns is anticipated thereafter.
