At a time when many science colleges are struggling to attract top recruiters for their BSc and MSc programmes, the 2025 batch of MG Science College has bucked the trend with strong campus placements.
Out of 90 students who participated in the placement drive, 58 secured job offers, including pre-placement offers, marking a notable achievement. The highest salary offered touched ₹4.8 lakh per annum (₹40,000 per month), surpassing last year’s top package of ₹3.8 lakh.
According to a media report, in-charge principal Jatin Parikh, one student received a ₹40,000 per month offer from S&P Global, while 22 BSc students were offered ₹39,600 per month positions by the Gujarat Water Resources Development Corporation (GWRDC).
“This year, for the first time, companies like BK Tyres also made impressive offers to students. While most of the work portfolio is related to laboratory work and quality control, a limited number of students also chose to take up jobs in marketing during the campus placement,” Parikh said.
Eleven students have bagged offers from Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation (GMDC), 11 from BK Tyres, eight were shortlisted for jobs at Zydus Cadila, and three in INTAS Pharma. Companies like Mining 360, Mankind and La Renon also made offers.
“Job opportunities for BSc graduates are often limited, and not many graduates want to take up a job, as many opt for higher studies in India or abroad, or even go for research. But those recruited from colleges like MG Science often get good jobs because they are both meritorious and industry-ready,” he said.
MG Science College, one of the oldest science colleges in the city, has an estimated 300 BSc and over 100 MSc students enrolled in a single batch.
