In a heartbreaking incident in Bhata village near Surat, three members of a family lost their lives on Friday due to suffocation caused by generator fumes.
According to a media report, Police and fire brigade teams rushed to the spot soon after receiving the alert. Preliminary information suggests that the generator had been running for an extended period, releasing toxic smoke that led to the deaths of Balu Patel (77), Sita Patel (56), and Veda Patel (60).
Alerted by the smoke, concerned neighbors contacted authorities and joined police personnel in entering the house. They shut off the generator and recovered the bodies.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact sequence of events and whether any negligence was involved.
