At least two students from Ahmedabad have secured ranks in the top 100 of the prestigious Integrated Program in Management Aptitude Test (IPMAT), conducted by the Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIM-I) for its five-year post-Class 12 management degree.
According to a media report, Mahaveer Kankaliya secured an All India Rank of 38, while Ramita Jain achieved Rank 54 in the highly competitive exam.
The IPMAT, a gateway to IIM Indore’s integrated MBA programme and similar courses at other institutes, saw participation from 16,357 students across the country this year, including 6,624 female and 9,733 male candidates. Aptitude Test Scores were generated for 818 students.
Mahaveer, a student of Firdaus Amrut Centre School (CBSE), Shahibaug, said the IPMAT route offers a strategic advantage. “It helps bypass the intense competition of the CAT exam later. I get to complete my graduation from an IIM, which will strengthen my profile even if I choose to appear for CAT in the future,” he said. He focused on consistent revision rather than tracking study hours.
Ramita, who completed her schooling in Lucknow and appeared for the test from Ahmedabad, has strong roots in the academic world—her father, Prof. Rajesh Jain, is a faculty member at IRMA, Gujarat, and previously served at IIM Ranchi.
“I was advised to take up engineering after opting for mathematics in Class 12 Science, but I’ve always been inclined toward management. Observing my father’s work at IIM-Ranchi made me keenly interested in the field,” she said. “I also believe I’m a natural leader, so once I chose this path, I was sure I wanted to pursue management from the beginning—without waiting for a later CAT attempt.”
Ramita followed a disciplined schedule, studying an additional four hours daily alongside school and tutorials. She also practiced mock tests on various online platforms.
