Gujarat Technological University (GTU)’s School of Engineering and Technology is all set to introduce a new postgraduate course in Electronics and Communication Engineering with a specialization in VLSI (Very Large Scale Integration) Design starting from the academic year 2025–26.
According to a media report, the program aims to equip students with cutting-edge skills in semiconductor design and electronic systems. “This course will expose students to advanced technologies like AI chips, IoT devices, smartphones, and automotive electronics—all built on VLSI platforms. It will offer deep insights into both digital and analog IC design domains,” said a university representative.
The initiative aligns with the Indian Semiconductor Mission, which is expected to drive a rising demand for skilled VLSI professionals. Major companies like Samsung, Google, Nvidia, EInfochips, Micron, and Tata Semiconductor are expected to play a role in this growing sector.
The curriculum will feature lab sessions, project-based learning, guest lectures from industry experts, and support for internships and placements. “Students will have the opportunity to secure internships, land jobs with top multinational companies, or even launch their own startups,” an official added.
