In an unusual incident at Surat airport on Monday, a Jaipur-bound IndiGo flight was delayed by an hour after a swarm of honeybees attempted to build a colony on the exterior of the aircraft.
The bees gathered around the luggage door just before the scheduled 4:20 pm departure, prompting immediate action from airport staff. Despite initial efforts to disperse the swarm using smoke, the bees remained, forcing the airport fire brigade to intervene. They eventually cleared the swarm by spraying water from a fire tender.
All passengers had already boarded the flight when the incident occurred and remained inside the aircraft during the delay. The plane finally took off at 5:26 pm, leaving several passengers frustrated after being stuck onboard for nearly an hour.
